Day 7 São Roque to Tui +-21km’s

We got up early this morning as we knew crossing the border into Spain would mean setting our watches forward one hour.

We set-off at 7:30am in search of the restaurant for breakfast. It was included in the room rate but somehow we missed the turning and that was the end of it. Things happen for a reason and a few km’s on in São Bento da Porta Aberta we found a cafe with the best Pastel de Nata I’ve tasted on this trip.

Today’s walk was a lot easier than yesterday as there were not so many uphills, much to our delight. The route was combination of forests and road walking. The cobblestone roads take there toll on the feet.

Sunscreen, a hat and cycling arm bands were the order of the day. Summer arrived by midday Portuguese time, this resulted in many pit stops for refreshments and Pastel De Nata of course.

Walking over the bridge into Spain was awesome, it’s not the first time I’ve walked into Galicia. It’s good to be in Spain again.

Leaving São Roque.
